In 1890 Irish-Greek-American-Japanese writer, Lafcadio Hearn, traveled to Japan. He was so smitten with the people that he married there and became a naturalized citizen. He began a series of travel and culture volumes to introduce Japanese culture to Americans. One series was fairy tales, written so Western audiences could understand, and published in crepe paper volumes which have held up well over the years (better than many paper volumes). Condition: Light overall toning, but generally in very good condition.
