Title: Large collection of titles from Paul Elder & Company Author: Place: San Francisco Publisher: Paul Elder & Company Date: Various dates Description: Approximately 220 finely printed volumes, with some additional pieces of ephemera included. Some titles illustrated from photographs, etc. Generally octavo volumes with decorative cloth and/or boards. Legendary San Francisco printers Paul Elder & Company published about 350 titles between 1903 and 1917. The best volumes were designed and printed by John Henry Nash director of the Tomoye Press. This is a wonderful collection, featuring a wide variety of classic titles produced by the press. A handful of titles are repeated, but the vast majority of volumes are unique. Some of the repeated titles include The Galleries of the Exposition (4 copies), New Footprints in Old Places (3 copies), and Outlines by John D. Barry (3 copies). A few other titles are represented with 2 copies each as well. Provenance: Sandor Burstein. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra shipping and/or handling charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: General wear and soiling to bindings, occasional corner bumps, a few volumes with areas of cloth lacking from spines, some mostly small chips and tears to jackets; toning and offsetting to interiors with occasional owner's signature, pencil notes, etc., scattered light foxing; all volumes good or better, with most being very good.
