The arrival of the United States troops in France in June of 1917 under the command of General John J. Pershing. Pershing is seen walking the deck of the troop ship, saluting his French counterparts upon disembarking, the troops lined up for review on the dock, boarding trains to their training camps, Pershing meeting with French generals, American troops parading through the streets, etc. A very interesting pictorial record of the American Expeditionary Force in France, raw untrained troops who where to turn the tide against the Germans in World War I. Provenance: rubberstamp of Alliance Francaise on front free endpaper. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine repaired with clear tape, with library labels, lacking clasp, front hinge well cracked with inadequate tape repair; some silver to images; very good.
