Laurits Tuxen (b. Copenhagen 1853, d. s.p. 1927) Portrait of Ingeborg Normann b. Stegmann (1857–1915). 1881. Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 38×29 cm. Lise Svanholm, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Laurits Tuxen no. 203. No. 203 and catalogue no. 200 is both studies to the large portriat of Ingeborg Normann (103×77 cm, catalogue no. 208) at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. Exhibited: Charlottenborg, “Laurits Tuxen Mindeudstilling”, 1929 no. 53. Exhibited: Skagens Museum, “Skagen Guld, værker i privat eje”, 2011. Provenance: Dr. phil. J.C. Normann. Ingeborg Stegmann, called Ingie, was the daughter of merchant Conrad Stegmann and Mrs. Louise (b. Brummer) and the older sister of Ottilia Stegmann, whom brewer Carl Jacobsen married in 1874. The two girls were born and raised in Edinburgh, but the family moved back to Denmark (Copenhagen) in 1870. Ingeborg was married in 1872 to Alfred Normann. Tuxen portrayed both Ingeborg and the sister Ottilia. Condition Some minor retouches. Minor crackles. Minor peelings.
