Lavallée, Joseph. Voyage pittoresque et historique de l'Istrie et Dalmatie, rédigé d'après l'itinéraire de L. F. Cassas. Parigi, Didot, 1802. In 2° (502 x 340 mm); [4], viii, 190, [2] pagine. Antiporta incisa, frontespizio inciso, 1 carta geografica incisa a doppia pagina e 65 tavole incise delle quali molti ripiegate (leggero alone al margine inferiore, sporadiche fioriture.) Legatura coeva inglese in vitello color nocciola con bordure a secco e in nero ai piatti, motivo della lira al centro, fregi e titolo in oro su tassello al dorso (difetti). Prima edizione . Blackmer 296: "Cassas visited Istria and Dalmatia in 1782 when he was commissioned by a group of amateurs, among whom was Visconti, to make drawings of the antiquities in that region. The text by Lavallee is in two parts; part I is a general history of the area, part II is edited from Cassas's journal of the voyage. The list of subscribers includes Talleyrand, baron de Stael, Piranesi, Quatremere de Quincy, Laborde, Millin and the Bonaparte. A beautiful example of book production".
