Loosely inserted is a broadsheet, oblong 4° prospectus for the work, printed in red and black and illustrated with a design after Lazzari, stating: 'Caresse Crosby , announces a new series of art publications , beginning with , HORSES , by Pietro Lazzari , [...] , Unique miniature portfolio format , 6 by 7 inches. $2.00 , LIMITED EDITION , 500 signed copies'. It appears that the design for the title was not used, since Minkoff simply gives the contents of the volume as the four folding plates, and makes no mention of either a title or a colophon leaf giving details of the edition's limitation.
