Engraved folding plate and other text illustrations. The second volume contains a review of Hooke's Micrographia (with folding plate) on pages 491-97. "Founded and edited by 'Sieur de Hédouville', pseudonym of Denis de Sallo (1626-1669), the Journal des Sçavans was 'the earliest scientific journal, ancestor of all its kind'."--Grolier/Horblit 95a.
