Illustrated from photographs, maps, etc. 9¾x6, uniformly bound in ¾ morocco & cloth, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, raised bands, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt; original wrappers bound in. Set of Smithsonian Institution Bulletins featuring monographs by Bent relating to North American Ornithology, including works on North American Diving Birds; Gulls and Terns; Petrels and Pelicans and their Allies; North American Wild Fowl (2 vols.); Marsh Birds; Shore Birds (2 vols.); North American Gallinaceous Birds; Birds of Prey (2 vols.); Woodpeckers; Cuckoos, Goatsuckers, Hummingbirds and their Allies; Flycatchers, Larks, Swallow and their Allies; and Jays, Crows and Titmice. Bent kept on writing, and the set eventually came to number 21 volumes in 25, the final publication being in 1968, some 50 years after his first contribution. Handsomely bound, an important body of work. Lot Amendments Condition: Two or three scuffs to the spines, else fine. Item number: 151500
