Unexamined out of frame. The present copy of Meserve 100, the last photograph of Lincoln taken during his life, is accompanied by a letter from Meserve's grandson explaining the provenance. The finely framed photograph was originally gifted by Frederick Hill Meserve to President Kennedy upon his inauguration and it was returned to the family by Jackie Kennedy in late 1963. The picture was then gifted to attorney Huyler Held by Meserve's heirs as a token appreciation after Held had aided in the acquisition of the of the Meserve Collection by the Library of Congress.
