(16 x 20 in.), original papered seal of the United States at center, some repairs to tears at margins (not affecting text), matted and framed , otherwise in very good condition. FOUR LANGUAGE SHIP'S PAPERS for the Onida , a New Bedford ship carrying merchandise to Shanghai. A document with text in French, Spanish, English and Dutch which attempted to insure safe passage for American ships by declaring "...that no subjects of the present belligerent powers have any part or portion therein, directly nor indirectly, so may God Almighty help him..."
