Lot of 4. Includes 3 framed images, most notably a portrait, 13.5 x 15 in., of a beardless Lincoln after Hesler's original photograph from June 3, 1860 [O-26]. Inscription reads: "To Wm. H. Townsend / From O.H. Oldroyd / September 21, 1922." Osborn H.I. Oldroyd (1842-1930) was a Civil War sergeant, writer, and collector of Lincolniana. After decades of collecting, he developed the idea of a Lincoln Memorial Hall in Springfield, IL, which he ultimately established in 1883 at the Lincoln homestead. He remained there as tenant and custodian until 1893, when he moved his collections to the house where Lincoln died in Washington, D.C. Also includes copy of the marriage certificate of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, as well as a photograph of the Knob Creek Farm Cabin, ca 1911. Inscription on verso: "Lincoln Cabin near Hodgenville, KY, as it was being reconstructed just prior to erection of granite temple over it." Completed by paperback booklet by William E. Barton Lincoln Birthday Service: The Grand Army Hall and Memorial Association of Illinois, Sunday, February 1922, at 2:30 P.M. Chicago. IL: 1922. 5 x 6.5 in., 40pp. Contains Order of Exercises for the services that took place at Memorial Hall in Chicago, as well as full text of invocation given by Rev. Dr. Josiah Sibley and address given by Rev. William E. Barton entitled "Why We Honor Abraham Lincoln."
