Lunacy [with] booklet about 100 Views of the Moon Author: Yoshitoshi Place Published: Japan Date Published: 1889 Description: Color woodblock ukiyo-e print on rice paper and associated booklet. Includes: Print: Lunacy, from 100 Views of the Moon. 1889. 36.4x24 cm (14¼x9½"). Booklet: 100 Views of the Moon by Yoshitoshi Taiso, 1839-1892. New York: Ronin Gallery, Winter 1978-79. 36 pp. This print features a heartbroken women after a breakup reading letters from her beloved so intensely that they begin to shred apart. With a booklet issued by Ronin Gallery in New York detailing all the prints in the artist's final and greatest series of prints, 100 Views of the Moon. Yoshitoshi is considered the last and among the greatest ukiyo-e artists. Condition: Previously mounted, residue on reverse; left edge text in red slightly trimmed but still legible; bottom right corner lightly rubbed; very good.
