LYNES, GEORGE PLATT etc. (1907-1955) Group of three vintage gelatin silver prints, one by George Platt Lynes Comprises [Andre Eglevsky in Swan Lake , New York City Ballet, likely 1951] ; [Patricia Wilde in Swan Lake , New York City Ballet, likely 1951] ; and Maria Tallchief as The Firebird, New York City Ballet, likely 1948]. The first two 10 x 8 inches (252 x 203 mm), both with Platt Lynes studio stamp verso (466 West 55 Street) and the "Beaton Studio Sotheby Parke Bernet" stamp; the third 9 1/8 x 7 1/2 inches (235 x 192 mm), verso titled in ink "Maria Tallchief posed sur les pointes in the N.Y.C. Ballet production of 'Firebird, 1948" and "Photo: George Platt Lynes N.Y." Minor handling creases, erasure to the verso of the third image, generally a very sound group . The first two images are of the Balanchine-produced, Cecil Beaton-designed Swan Lake , the design of which utilized calligraphic scenery with white ink on black grounds, following pen and ink drawings of the 16th century.
