Browning Hi-Power World War II Victory Commemorative semi-automatic pistol manufactured in Belgium in 1991. The left side of the slide features scroll engraving and is stamped "EUROPEAN THEATER" over "PACIFIC THEATER/ CHINA-BURMA-INDIA/ THEATER" followed by "IN HONOR OF WORLD WAR II VICTORY" above Browning's importer information, with "2 SEPT 1945" at the rear towards the slide safety. Right side is stamped "MADE IN BELGIUM/ ASSEMBLED IN PORTUGAL" above Browning's importer information. Right side of frame is stamped "WWII135" with a Belgian proof present on the trigger web. Features include a gold plated finish, 4 - 3/4" barrel, standard Hi-Power front & rear sights, as well as 2-piece checkered wood grips featuring "I HONOR OF WORLD WAR II VICTORY" medallions. Matching numbers are present on the frame and barrel, with the interior of the slide being hand-scribed to match. This example is accompanied by it's original matching factory hard case (marked for a blued finish) containing its factory manual, as well as a display case featuring a plaque marked "WORLD WAR II/ COMMEMORATIVE BROWNING HI-POWER/ LIMITED EDITION/ ISSUED BY/ THE AMERICAN HISTORICAL FOUNDATION/ RICHMOND, VIRGINIA" and contains a gold plated magazine, gold plated cleaning rod, as well as a D-Day Museum World War II Charter member dog tag. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their gold plated finish, exhibiting some light superficial scratches and handling marks overall. Recoil spring slot exhibits some oxidation on the interior of the slide. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips are excellent. Display case is fine, exhibiting a few minor marks from handling and storage, but otherwise is sturdy and serviceable. A very attractive Browning Hi-Power World War II commemorative pistol.
