Important work on the diminution of the sea and the expansion of the continents, presented under the name of a fictitious Indian philosopher ('de Maillet' spelled backwards). Since the ideas of this work were consider dangerous and disturbing it wasn't published until 10 years after Maillet's death eventhough it was written between 1692 and 1708.
