MANUSCRIPT] Leaf from a very large Carolingian lectionary, in Latin . [Probably Germany or Switzerland, first half of the tenth century]. Manuscript on vellum, leaf size 20 1/4 x 13 inches (51 x 33 cm), double column, 50 lines written in dark brown ink in a neat rounded Carolingian miniscule, the rubrics written in a late uncial, the remains of a polychrome ornate initial "S" on the recto, first column. Recovered from a binding, with folds on all blank margins and a central pair of horizontal folds, tear in the gutter margin and two blank areas of the foremargin cut away, overall quite toned. A survival, quite possibly unique, from a large and rather grand manuscript. C
