Rare folding pocket map of the famous Comstock Lode in Nevada, with Virginia City, Gold Hill, American Flat, Silver City, the numerous mines and claims, etc. The mining region of western Nevada was to prove once of the most significant sources of precious metals n America, and the largely California-based owners and operators of the mines were to build many a mansion in San Francisco as a result. With printed "List of Washoe Stocks" mounted on inside of front cover. The present map, showing the district in detail, is quite rare - OCLC/WorldCat lists only three examples, at the Huntington Library, the University of California Berkeley, and the Denver Public Library.
