MARIUS-MICHEL- Henri (1846-1925).] Feuillets d'autrefois. Souvenirs et rêves . Paris: privately printed by Philippe Renouard for the poet, 1916. 8 o in 4s (195 x 126 mm). LIMITED EDITION for distribution among Michel's family and friends, printed on blue paper. FINE JANSENIST BINDING BY THE YOUNGER MARIUS-MICHEL- blue crushed morocco, gilt-lettered on spine, mauve doublures inlaid with black, grey and blue morocco to a floral and foliate design, gilt pistils, free endleaves of gilt brocade, edges gilt 'sur témoins', uncut, original printed wrappers preserved. Provenance : perhaps the binder/poet himself, or someone close to him (three autograph poems on inserted leaves, signed with initials: "Automne", "Autodafé", and "Colère"; reproduction of a photographic portrait of Michel, mounted before half-title; binding). The younger Marius-Michel- aged 70 by the time of this vanity publication, was a competent and traditional poet, but a great and revolutionary binder, one of the creators of the Art Nouveau style. OF GREAT RARITY.
