Marius-Michel-fils was not only the greatest and most innovative binder of his generation, he never tired of arguing about his art, especially as here about how a binding should relate to the content of a book. These two publications, which are not short on criticism of other binders, may also be seen as propaganda for the Marius Michel atelier. (2)
