Title: Meadowbrook souvenir golf trophy Author: ** Place: Meadowbrook Publisher: Date: 1935 Description: Silver-plated golfing trophy with a male golfer figurine (about to strike a ball), standing on base stamped “Meadowbrook, 1935”; maker’s mark “Mfg. By Dodge Inc., Chicago” on the inside portion of hollow base. Measures 8½" tall; base bottom 3¼" in diameter. In 1927 Ray Edgar Dodge and Vernon Ascher organized the firm of Dodge & Ascher in Chicago to manufacture high school and college jewelry. All the stockholders in the firm were outstanding members of the 1924 Olympic track team. Later, Dodge sold the firm and became Dodge, Inc., of Illinois, manufacturing medals and trophies set to model and sculpt the most extensive line of figures and interchangeable trophies ever attempted. After expanding to four major cities and buying out other related firms, Dodge Inc. became the world's largest trophy manufacturer and one of the world's largest gift and souvenir manufacturers. There's a Meadowbrook Golf Course located in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota and there is a Meadowbrook Golf Club in Montreal, Canada.
