[with] Documents No. III-VII. 5, [3] pp. + 2 fold-out tables. (8vo) 23x14.5 (9x5¾"), unbound, stitched. Very early example of a Washington City imprint. The printer, Samuel Harrison Smith, was a friend of Thomas Jefferson and in February 1801 printed the latter's A Manual of Parliamentary Practice. There were eight accompanying documents. five of which are present here: No. III. of Documents accompanying the President's communications... 8th day of December, 1801 [transmitting a copy of the 2d census]. Document, No. IV. Expenditures on account of materials for building six 74 gun ships... Document, no. V. Expenditures on account of navy yards, docks and wharves to 1st October, 1801. Document, no. VI. Statement of the sales of public vessels and stores, payable into the Treasury. Document, no. VII... Statement of monies applied for the defence of certain ports and harbors... 1794... to the 16th November, 1801...
