Beschreibung:

12 gauge, 20" barrel, S/N US030823/ 92-0545. Parkerized finish, US marked before serial number, sling swivels. Black synthetic stocks. Original manual. New in the original military-style packing in the original shipping box. The consignor of this firearm purchased it from the President of the Mossberg Collector's Association who had purchased it from executive of Mossberg. This firearm was part of a contract and was possibly one of the extra ones manufactured to hedge against possible defective issued guns. For more information about this firearm see The World's Fighting Shotguns by Thomas F. Swearengen. Mossberg's U.S. 500 was deployed in the early 1980s, built to U.S. Military Specification (MIlSPEC) 3443D for Armed Forces use. This model was required to pass a 2,000 round endurance test with no malfunctions. A modified civilian model was offered in 1983, with a 3" chamber (the military version was chambered only for 2-3/4" shells) and optional barrel handguard. Only 5,000 of each version (with and without handguard) were produced for civilian consumption. This firearm being offered was a prototype for the Model 590. For further information please see National Mossberg Collector's Association newsletter, Spring 2014, p 13. Condition: New in the box. A very rare "US"-marked shotgun.
