MÜLLER, Gerhard Friedrich (1705-1783). Voyages et découvertes faites par les Russes le long des côtes de la mer glaciale & sur l'océan oriental, tant vers le Japon que vers l'Amérique. Amsterdam, [Rey], and sold in Paris by Rozet, 1768. The second French edition of Müller’s description of Siberia. First published in 1766, this translation is regarded as fuller than and superior to Jefferys’s popular 1761 English rendering. Howes M-884; Sabin 51286. Two volumes, 12mo (165 x 102mm). Engraved folding map (light uniform browning to the latter part of the second volume, two short 25mm closed tears to the map, unrepaired, two further short tears repaired with tape at the verso). Contemporary mottled calf, spines gilt in compartments (extremities a little rubbed, corners slightly bumped).
