Title printed in blue with hand-colored vignette, dedication to Queen Victoria printed in blue, 25 chromolithographed plates finished by hand, mounted and outlined in gold (some light spotting not affecting plates, offsetting, small marginal tear). Contemporary half morocco (rebacked, lightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION of this "early example of three-color printing. The figures and smaller details are hand-finished, probably by the artist, this being one of the few 'Royal Copies'" (Abbey). Nash was elected a full member of the Old Watercolour Society in 1842. He notes that this work is 'illustrative of the state and ceremony which distinguish the Royal hospitality' ( Views ). Abbey Scenery 360; Tooley 339.
