Nelson grants Bickerton's request to have the purser of the Kent , 'Mr Boyes', seconded as his secretary on the Royal Sovereign . Bickerton was Nelson's second-in-command in the Mediterranean on the resumption of war in 1803 after the short-lived Peace of Amiens.
