NIZAMI (D.1217 AD): LAYLA WA MAJNUN AND HAFT PAYKAR SIGNED MUSLIM BIN MUHAMMAD AL-ABYURDI (?), BALKH, AFGHANISTAN, DATED 6 SHA'BAN AH 1079/9 JANUARY 1669 AD Poetry, Persian manuscript on paper, 166ff. plus six fly-leaves, each folio with 21ll. of black nasta'liq script arranged in four columns, titles in blue or red nasta'liq script, some folios with text between intercolumnar divisions and within gold, blue and black rules, opening folio with fully illuminated margins and cartouches, another heading with unfinished sketch, and another with gold and polychrome illuminated, with eight original illustrations , with catchwords, one colophon with date of Saturday Rabi' II, other text possibly incomplete at the end, in stamped morocco binding, with copious added notes at beginning and end Folio 10 x 7in. (25.2 x 18cm.)
