NIZAMI (D.1217 AD): LAYLA WA MAJNUN , HAFT PAYKAR , ISKANDARNAMA , KHUSRAW WA SHIRIN SAFAVID IRAN, DATED AH 1015/1606-07 AD In two volumes, Persian manuscript on paper, 179ff. plus two fly-leaves, and 126ff. plus four fly-leaves, each folio with 25ll. of elegant black nasta'liq script arranged in four columns with double brown divisions, text within black, gold and brown rules, titles in blue ink within cartouches, with very finely gold and polychrome illuminated headpieces, numerous original very fine illustrations (badly damaged), with catchwords, each volume in 19th century Indian gilt red morocco binding, one with flap Text panel 8 3/8 x 4 3/8in. (21.4 x 11cm.); folio 8¾ x 6in. (24.7 x 15cm.) (2)
