London (John Murray 1845 (extra engraved title 1841). Large 8:o (about 235x150 mm.). (4, including extra engraved title), (3), iv-xc, (2), (1)-716 pp. Engraved frontispiece portrait (some foxing), extra engraved title with vignette (some foxing). Contemporary black morocco, very slightly worn, gilt boards, gilt edges of boards, richly gilt spine in six compartments, all edges gilt. Front edge with coloured fore-edge painting (fox-hunting with horses and dogs). Contemporary inscription on first endpaper. Thomas Campbell (1777-1844), Scottish poet, one of the initiators of a plan to found what became the University of London.
