Most produced for the Centennial Expo. in Philadelphia, 1876. Old Abe the War Eagle was a bald eagle who became the mascot for the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. During the war, he was in more than 30 battles and became a unifying symbol for the Union Army. After the war, he remained in Wisconsin living at the state capitol.
