One of only 247 built 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 Coupé Coachwork by Carrozzeria Touring Registration no. not UK registered Chassis no. 0.0793 Engine no. 0767 (see text)• Offered without reserve • Formerly registered in the UK • Engine completely restored in 1990 • Present ownership since 2010FootnotesOne of only 247 of its type built between 1966 and 1968, this Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 was first registered in the UK in October 1991 as 'NEG 67E' (it should be noted that the UK V5 registration document records the engine number as '0793'). The first UK owner was Badsaddle Stables Ltd, followed by Mr John Pinder from May 1994. Prior to Mr Pinder's ownership the engine had been restored in 1990 by Badsaddle Stables while the carburettors and distributors had already been overhauled by Lorenzini Autosport (see letter on file). In October 1996 the car was sold to a new owner in the Netherlands, where it appears to have remained for several years. The current owner purchased the Lamborghini at Bonhams' Reims sale in September 2010 (Lot 28). Using information supplied by the then vendor, we said: "Over the course of the past 20 years '0793' has been driven approximately 12,000 kilometres and is described as in 'perfect' condition." We had been advised that the smoke-free engine maintained regulation oil pressure and ran perfectly, while the transmission and brakes were said to be in similarly excellent condition. All panel gaps were said to be 'good as new' and the door fit superb for a 400GT. The paint, brightwork, and rubbers were all described as in wonderful condition, and the leather, carpets and interior generally very good. New Michelin tyres were fitted to the restored Borrani wire wheels in 2010. The car has been stored since acquisition and will require re-commissioning before further use. This exceptional early Lamborghini is offered with copies of a UK registration document in the name of John Henry Pinder; Netherlands registration papers; technical data; and a copy of a five-page article featuring this actual car published in Classic & Sports Car magazine (July 1996). Please note that if this vehicle is to remain in the UK, it will be subject to Import VAT at the reduced rate of 5% on the hammer price. It will also require a NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrival) and an additional fee of £250 (plus VAT) will be charged on the Invoice to prepare the NOVA. This vehicle will not be available for immediate collection after the sale and will only be released on completion of customs clearance. If you have any questions regarding customs clearance, please contact the Bonhams Motorcar Department or our recommended shippers.
