Place: Paris Publisher: Garier, Librarie Date: 1829 Description: [4], iv, [4], 116 pp. 108x67 mm, full brown morocco, stamped in blind on front, top edge gilt. First Edition. A rare volume, WorldCat locates only the Bibliothèque Nationale de France copy. This volume from the library of William Stirling Maxwell, with his book plate on front pastedown and the bookplate of the Keir collection of books on Proverbs on the rear pastedown. This copy is described on page 10 of his "An essay towards a collection of books relating to proverbs, emblems, apophthegms, epitaphs and ana, being a catalogue of those at Keir." (1860). Lot Amendments Condition: Binding worn, front cover detached; foxing; internally very good. Item number: 273572a
