ORME, EDWARD] Foreign field sports, fisheries, sporting anecdotes, &c. &c. from drawings by Messrs. Howitt, Atkinson, Clark, Manskirch &c. with a supplement of New South Wales... London: Edward Orme n.d. (but 1823 from the watermark, the generally accepted date for this edition). Full green straight-grain morocco, spine gilt with animal motifs, covers with several ornate rolls in gilt and blind. 12 1/2 inches (32 cm), all edges gilt. [ii], 170, [ii] pp.; with 110 superb hand-colored aquatints of hunting scenes. Binding neatly rebacked and restored, retaining original marbled endpapers. Within, some slight spotting to the text, but generally a fresh copy, with excellent coloring. Embossed personal ownership stamp on title-page, description attached to free endpaper. First published in 1814, this is the third edition. Prideaux remarked of this work, with some humor: "No better or more exciting boy's book can be imagined." The plates include four on whaling, and thirteen on the subject of bullfighting. Prideaux Aquatint Engraving 1909. p. 283; Abbey Travel 3; Schwerdt I p.179 etc.
