Ottoman Sultanate Album, with thirty-six chromolithographed portraits of Sultans, in Turkish and French, printed on card [probably Istanbul, c. 1920] 36 printed cards mounted into a concertina-style album, each with portrait of ruler and respective dates, starting with Sultan Murad Khan Ghazi I (who reigned from 1300-1326) to Sultan Mehmed VI (whose dates are not given as he would have been the reigning Sultan at the time of printing), each portrait showing the Sultans in their personalized gowns and head-dresses, some light surface scratches and a few small spots of dampstaining, 170 x 235 mm. (each card 140 x 90mm.); in modern cloth-backed boards An important ephemeral relic from the reign of the last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, tracing his ancestry back to 1300. Dating to the years immediately before the abolishment of the sultanate in 1922.
