Beschreibung:

out-of-series copy from an edition limited to 50, marked "working copy" and signed by the author/artist in pencil, printed in black and colours on Japanese mulberry paper, 8 reverse/direct offset prints from leaves, card, gesso etc. mounted on partly-cut lino, several markings to text and plates by the author, in pencil and biro, one or two other slight marks and tear to head of one leaf repaired with tape, original limp boards covered with Japanese handmade mesh paper, transparent wrapper, preserved in morocco-backed cloth drop-back box, spine faded, [Chambers 22], 1972; with 2 boxes of material relating to the production of the book, one with original drawings, proof sheets and paste-ups for the book, the other with the 8 lino blocks for the prints, loosely inserted in two morocco-backed cloth drop-back boxes, both slightly faded, 8vo & 4to (3) *** A fascinating insight into Cox's working methods and production. "Each print has the device of a hand with pen or brush, entering from beyond the margins, drawing its composition (poem or picture) from nature. As nature prints, and in imitation of nature, five of these eight show mastery; as printing blocks, raised coloured and varnished, all become relief sculptures." Chambers
