Original red cloth, upper cover and spine blocked in gilt, top edges gilt (lightly soiled, spine faded). FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, extensively inscribed by the author to Denis D. Lyell: "We have lived in the best time, and seen the wonders of wild life in mysterious countries ..." A FINE ASSOCIATION COPY. Lyell was a big game hunter and author of note. Czech p.127. Corbett's Man-Eaters of Kumaon ([Bombay], 1944), the same author's The Temple Tiger and More Man-Eaters of Kumaon (London, 1954) and J. A. Hunter's White Hunter.
