Rare and beautiful set of copper engravings by P. W. Tomkins, Historical Engraver to Queen Charlotte and art teacher to her daughters. Engr. title and 12 copperplates printed on paper stained pale yellow and mounted on laid paper. Orig. wrappers with engr. logo on front board. - Laid paper slightly foxed, not affecting the prints. Prints due to mounting slightly creased in the corners, engr. title with paper defect along the lower platemark. Wrappers slightly foxed. Overall well-preserved copy of the rare set. Book of etchings. 1790.

Landgräfin von Hessen-Homburg. - Die dekorativen Genreszenen gedruckt auf hellgelbem Grund, Format meist 13-14 : 17 cm, und in den Ecken montiert. Die farb. Papiere rückwärtig tlw. mit durchscheinendem Stempel. Umschlag mit gest. Firmenlogo "Tomkins, Stationer and printseller, Carving and Gilding, Bond Street, London - Pictures carefully clean'd & repair'd by an Experienced artist, Prints and Pictures neatly Fram'd & Glaz'd." - Die Unterlagen für die mont. Stiche leicht stockfleckig, die Kupferstiche jedoch nicht betroffen; diese in den Ecken durch die Montierung tlw. leicht knittrig, gest. Titel mit Papierbruch entlang der unteren Plattenkante.
