PENN, William (1644-1718), Founder of Pennsylvania . Engraved document signed ("Wm Penn"), countersigned by William Penn Jr. ("Wm.Penn Jr."), a sale of land in Ireland to "Thomas Cuppage of Lambstown in the County of Wexford in the Kingdom of Ireland," n.p., 4 August 1708, docketed on verso with attestation of three witnesses. 1 page, 553 x 700 mm. (21 5/8 x 28 in.) , ON VELLUM, typical scalloped edge at top, written in a clear Chancery script in black ink, opening text "This Indenture" in ornate gothic letters and with elaborate penwork flourishes, large capital "T" (150 mm. (6 in.) in height) with penwork interlaces and date "1708," with two clear impressions in orange wax of the PENN FAMILY ARMORIAL SEAL (diameter 21 mm. (¾ in.), shield with a crescent in top portion, horizontal bar with three globes), one seal with tiny loss, in double-sided frame . William Penn the Elder and William Penn the Younger ("son and heir apparent") for the sum of "[750] pounds of lawfull money of Ireland ... do requitt and release ... The town and lands of Coolcors," in County Meath, Ireland.
