Pere Philippe, de la Saint Trinite (16031671), was a French missionary to the Levant and travelled extensively from 1623 to 1633, visiting Greek areas, Anatolia, Armenia, Syria, Arabia, even India. His base for many years was the Catholic missionary station at Ispahan, in Persia. He gives very detailed contemporary accounts for most of the countries of the Levant and the itineraries and notes of his several journeys. His main focus was the condition of the Christians of the Levant. The provided information, for the early 17th century, are precious. He published his account firstly in Latin in 1649.
