PERETS BEN ISAAC HA-KOHEN (attributed). Ma'arekhet ha-Elohut (the order of God) [Kabbalah, with two commentaries: one written by Judah Chayyat (Minchat Yehudah) and the other, an anonymous commentary]. Ferrara, Samuel Ibn Usque, 1557. [6], 286 leaves, title page showing the Usque Printer's mark, an armillary sphere (Yaari, Hebrew Printer's Marks 22). 4to, rebound in blue morocco, g.e.; with green morocco doublures and silk linnings, some staining and browning. FIRST EDITION. Vinograd, Ferrara 49; Steinschneider 6719,1; Cowley 519; Zedner 634; Roest 925; Deinhard, Atikot Yehuda p. 29; On the work and its authors see: Enc. Judaica vol. 11, colms. 637-639. Ma'arekhet ha-Elohut was written at the beginning of the 14th century and is a systematic summary of most themes treated in early Kabbalah literature. Because of its systematic nature, it became one of the classical books of Kabbalah. The anonymous commentary was printed in full in our Ferrara edition but in considerably abridged version in the second Mantua edition (1558).
