PHILIPPE HALSMAN 1906 - 1979 GEORGIA O'KEEFFE mounted, credited Photograph by Halsman, signed Georgia O'Keeffe and annotated Kindly return to Georgia O'Keeffe - Room 1710. 509 Madison by O'Keeffe in pencil on the mount, and with a Return to Times stamp and annotation in ink on the reverse gelatin silver print 12 by 9 ⅝ inches (30.5 by 24.4 cm) Executed in 1948.Condition ReportThis gelatin silver print is in generally good condition. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: scattered linear craquelure which may break the emulsion; and an uneven glossiness to the surface in the left 2/3 of the print. There are a few small matte deposits in the upper left quadrant. The edges are worn with occasional chipping. The mount exhibits general wear including some creases and minor soiling. There is an abrasion on the reverse which partially affects the Times stamp. The annotation in an unidentified hand in ink on the reverse of the mount reads: 'Copyright Halsman. Photograph may only be used if credit line is given to Halsman. Kindly keep photograph clean + return to Georgia O'Keeffe 509 Madison Ave New York 22 N. Y.'
