Title: Photograph album containing original photographs taken of Ketchikan, Alaska in 1938-39 Author: ** Place: Ketchikan, Alaska Publisher: Date: 1938-1939 Description: 49 original albumen silver prints. Each about 2¾x4½, some a bit smaller. Mounted to black paper leaves within a photograph album, most photographs captioned in white on paper. 6¾x9½, black pebbled cloth. A young married couple's interesting photographic record of life in Ketchikan, Alaska in 1938-1939. The unnamed husband appears to have been an employee of the Marlyn Fish Co. (one of the photos shows him "working late" at his desk). A few of the images show generic interior scenes ("corner of first apartment," a Christmas tree dated Dec. 24, 1938). Most, however are landscapes taken on excursions, showing much local scenery, or photographs of the Ketchikan waterfront and other townscapes (including one photo of Ketchikan taken from the air). Some of the people in the photos are identified by name ("At Telegraph Creek, Albert Dease, old Indian & husky dogs"). Photographs from the first 8 pages of album regrettably, have been removed, but the captions remain. Lot Amendments Condition: Light fading to some photographs; very good. Item number: 230439
