thread and sinew-sewn on a thick smoke tanned hide; scrolling across the edges, lapel, pockets and shoulders are beaded floral elements in colors of red white-heart, cobalt, yellow, periwinkle, light blue, greasy marigold, opaque, light pink, and translucent green; length 34 in. (excludes fringe) x chest 39 in. fourth quarter 19th century Included is a collection card from the Chicago Historical Society documenting the jacket's proposed history: The coat - a buckskin jacket with extensive beaded decoration - was given to the Society on April 30, 1930, by Andrew D.
