Highlights include: studio view of two men in the act of boxing with each other, with a painted coastal/mountain scene serving as the backdrop; group portrait of five men, two standing with their dukes up in the back row, while three sit with hands crossed in the front row. Each subject wears a top hat (few creases in plate); studio view of two men seated at a table, smoking pipes and playing cards, with a large bottle between them; group portrait of six young men smoking and drinking in front of the camera; studio portrait of three men, two seated with cigars hanging out of their mouths. Two of the subjects are also shown holding what look to be pool cues. The lot also includes at least 5 additional views of men drinking and/or smoking; and 4 studio views showing two or three well-dressed gentlemen of varying ages. Condition: Most very good, but few with creases, some wear along edges/corners.
