Pleasure Gardens.- A mixed group of 15 prints relating to Vauxhall, Marylebone, and Ranelagh Gardens, including 7 scenes in Vauxhall Gardens after paintings by Francis Hayman a mezzotint by John Raphael Smith depicting finely dressed prositutes in the grounds of a pleasure garden [BM Satires 4545], and several topographical views of the gardens, including one after Canaletto, engravings, etchings, mezzotint, various sizes, largest 320 x 445 mm. (12 1/2 x 17 1/2 in), some handling creases, occasional nicks and tears, surface dirt and browning, all unframed, mainly early 19th century; and a mixed group of lithographs, engravings, and etchings, including 'A Plan of a New Invented Patent-Piano-Forte', the caricature 'Bravuras' [BM Satires 10792] by Charles Williams a trial proof etching by Douglas Ion Smart of a harbour, and others, various sizes, all unframed (30)
