Condition: Used - Case material: silver - Diameter: 135 mm - Mineral glass - Weight: 135 grams - Winding key. Watch is not functioning, compass is damaged. Silver pocket watch Verge Fusee, ‘Berthoud’, +/- 1790 Description: Silver pocket watch, diameter: 54,7 mm, thickness: 26,6 mm, weight: 135,6 gram. The watch is made by Berthoud, in Paris, France, around 1790. The movement is a verge fusee movement, and is signed “Berthoud a Paris, No. 12957’. The enamel dial has a miniature painting at 12 o’clock, a compass at 3 o’clock, a small dial that displays the time at 6 o’clock and a second hand a 9 o’clock. The case is silver and has a crystal caseback. The caseback has a silver plate with engine turned and a small crystal through which the balance wheel is visible. There is a silver chain with two watch keys. Condition: The watch is in reasonable condition. The case has some scratches. The movement doesn’t run. The dial is in good condition, but has a chips close to the compass. The compass doesn’t function. The hands are in good condition, but the minute hand has probably been replaced. Both crystals are original and in good condition and have some scratches.
