POST MEDIEVAL SILVER RELIQUARY CROSS PENDANT Circa 18th century AD A silver reliquary pendant formed as a hinged cross with figural designs; panels of bifacial foliate decoration between the arms; to the obverse a scene depicting the dove of peace descending in glory towards a standing nimbate figure of Christ, with separately-carved face inserted (lost in antiquity) and a nimbate figure to each side; to the reverse a crucifixion scene with Christ in a loincloth beneath an inverted triangle and the legend INRI* above; suspension rings to each side of the head. Silver, 48 grams, 72 mm (2 3/4"). Fine condition, the face of Christ missing, reliquary contents visible.
