Prayer book, Arabic manuscript on paper, 370ff. as numbered, each with 7ll. of large black naskh in clouds on gold ground, occasional words in red, interlinear commentary in red nasta'liq between black rules, gold margin between black rules, blue outer rule, gold meandering vine outer margin, occasional bifolios with further gold floral illumination, marginal notations in black and red, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated heading, part morocco binding (one board missing), India, 18th century - 23.5 x 14.6cm.; Qur'an , 13ll. of black naskh on gold sprinkled paper, gold clouds between the text, gold roundels between verses, gold margin, occasional bifolios with gold and black floral marginal illumination, divisions of text marked marginally in gold and blue, sura headings in white on gold panels, opening bifolio illuminated in gold and polychrome with floral cartouches and lozenges, India, final folio dated Rabi' II AH 1165/1751-2 AD , probably original light brown lacquer binding with red, gold and black floral lattice around a central medallion, in cloth envelope - 17 x 9.5cm.; small Qur'an , 15ll. small black naskh, gold dots between verses, gold margin, gold and blue marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, occasional marginal notes in red and black, sura headings in white on gold panels, opening folio illuminated, maroon morocco binding in green brocade cloth cover, India, 17th century - 11.7 x 6.1cm.; and four secular manuscripts , including: Arabic manuscript on paper, 27ll. black naskh, dated 11 Rajab AH 1270/1853-4 AD and signed by al-Malik Abi Bakr b. Abd al-Rahim , cloth covered boards - 30 x 22cm., Persian manuscript, 21ll. black naskh in two columns, red margins and rules, headings in red, brown morocco binding - 22 x 13cm., Persian manuscript on buff, brown and pink paper, 16ll. black nasta'liq in two columns, gold margins and divisions, headings and occasional marginal notes in red, two illuminated headings in text, morocco binding with red cloth cover - 22.8 x 11.6cm., Persian manuscript, 25ll. black nasta'liq in four columns, red margins and divisions, headings in red, marginal notes, cloth covered binding - 24 x 15cm., (various wear and damages) See illustration for part lot (7)
