PRAYERBOOK, in German, illuminated manuscript on vellum [Southern Germany, c.1480]. 78 x 55mm. 182 leaves with eleven lines of text written in black and red ink in a neat cursive hand, one illuminated initial and two-sided border, two miniatures in burnished gold and colours, St Sebastian on f.151v and St Catherine on f.174v, large flourished initials of two colours to introduce each prayer (illumination rubbed or smudged). Contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, "ihs" scrolls blindstamped on sides, later brass corner- and centrepieces, brass clasp and catch, sewn on 3 double cords (sides rubbed, clasp leather renewed, some wear to spine, a few small wormholes). PRAYERBOOK, in German, manuscript on vellum [Germany, 15th century]. 36 x 31mm. 48 leaves with seven lines written in pink and brown in a cursive hand (fading of pink ink, first folio discoloured). ?Contemporary pigskin over thick wooden boards, sewn on 2 double cords, brass corner- and centrepieces and clasp (one cornerpiece missing, spine leather defective).
