RARE ET IMPORTANTE STATUE DE GUANYIN EN BOIS LAQUE CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, EPOQUE KANGXI (1662-1722) Guanyin is standing in samabhanga on a separate sculpted floral base with his principle hands in anjalimudra . His other twenty-two arms radiate around his body with various hands holding attributes or showing the prescribed gestures. He is dressed in a dhoti , cape draped around the shoulders. His principle face displays a serene expression with downcast eyes, smiling lips and elongated earlobes with ear ornaments. The principle head is flanked and topped by nine other faces. The floral base is placed on a stepped throne sculpted to the front with central ratna emblem flanked by lions and an elephant to each side. A large flaming mandorla is set into the throne and decorated with the Garuda bird to its top grasping with his claws a pair of rajanagas ; restorations. Added is a pair of gilt-lacquered wood panels sculpted with cranes standing on tree branches. 27 in. (68.5 cm.), high (the figure) 45 ¾ in. (116 cm.), total height
