Beschreibung:

Indeterminate species Cretaceous Jukawang Valley, Northern Myanmar Representing a fascinating mystery, the feather preserved in this 100-million-year-old amber may either originate from a bird or a dinosaur. Most amber is too young to contain dinosaur remains, but Burmite, an older amber, which existed during the Cretaceous, the age of dinosaurs. Both coelerasaur and tyranosaur dinosaurs are known to have been feathered, from the outstanding fossils that have been found in Liaoning, China, which have been dated from 130-110 million years old. The present large, branching symmetric feather specimen is beautifully preserved with an intact central rachis. As it is symmetric, this is not a flight feather; rather is it from the body or arm of a 100-million-year-old dinosaur or bird. The feather displays remarkable detail and there appears to be some feather pigment still present. This rare and important feather is one of the largest and best-preserved feathers found in Burmite amber. Offered in a Riker mount. Nugget measuring 30 x 23 millimeters; specimen measuring 1in
